Apartment Marina Porto Cervo Maison du Port is a unique real estate and historical piece for sale in Porto Cervo. It is part of the first house built in Porto Cervo. The building designed and built in 1964 by Arch. Savin Couelle commissioned by S.A. Karim Aga Khan is considered “historic”and it was where the first headquarters of the Yachting Club Costa Smeralda were established.
“Maison du Port” is one of the most desirable homes in Porto Cervo; nine private tenants live there, in addition to the Café du Port.
The apartment, directly overlooking the old wharf with two balconies, it is the second one in the condo for its internal floor area width of 106 sqm, where the large pentagonal living room of 45 sqm. stands out (compared to the two other smaller rooms), and occupies the entire first floor of the facade from the corner to the left side.
The house, like all the most typical Couelle, is full of niches, arches and closets and refers to the elegant and naive marine style, typical of certain type of Breton homes.
It is accessed from the main door. On entering there is a small hallway, then through an arch you enter the large “open-space” living room with exposed wooden beams and central granite fireplace; the inner perimeter of the room follows the exterior of the building facade (which is typical of many mansions signed Savin Couelle), opening up the outside with four windows and two French doors on their balconies offering a privileged view of the old pier, on the village with the “Piazzetta degli Archi” down to the bottom of the bay, towards the Marina of Porto Cervo; one bedroom on the same floor with private bathroom and shower, a small kitchen with access from the living room, furnished with the original cabinets and red wooden pantries, terracotta floors and “Sardinian wax” tiles; the stairs, covered with natural coconut like the whole house, lead to the first floor and to the second bedroom, with bathroom, shower and window looking out onto the internal courtyard of the Maison Du Port.
The preservation state is good: the double insulated glass of the windows close off the house from the buzz of the center; the thickness of the walls ensures the isolation from temperatures too hot during summer or too cold and influenced by the mistral wind in winter. The materials are typical and local ones: granite, wood, wrought iron, Sardinian waxes. The original doors of solid wood are the same inside as well as at the entrance and retain their original frames. The electric light comes from lamps and lampshades as was at that time of the “maison de charm.”
Today Maison du Port is still a simple apartment, although offering the feeling of living in a castle tower. The ideal property for those who arrive by boat.
The house is full of light and has a beautiful sea view. It has kept the style, beauty and charm of a seaside residence, beautiful in spring, as from May to early October; beautiful even in the winter weekends, when the mistral wind brings sea sprays on the windows!
